Renee Ruin (BSocSc, B.A.(Hons) Sociology) is an Australian writer, feminist, mental health ambassador, blogger, music journalist, and poet.
Her first self-published anthology of poetry works Wounds Vol.1 (2013) gained underground cult status both in Australia and internationally and sold out both first and second editions and boasts a 4.7/5 average rating on Good Reads. Her second anthology Wounds Vol.2 with an accompanying foreword by music legend and friend, Mark Lanegan was set to be released at the end of February 2022. However, tragically Mark Lanegan passed away on February 22nd. Stricken by grief, Renee stopped working on the project but eventually added an epilogue about Mark and Wounds Vol.2 was released in late 2022.

As well as regular articles and features on reneeruin.com, Renee is a podcaster, regular podcast guest on the US Youtube Movie Night Extravaganza, published poetry author, freelance writer, and contributor, digital collage artist, and live music photographer. If you thought that wasn't a long enough list Renee is also a certified Mental Health Ambassador who has appeared as a guest speaker for special fundraising arts events for NAMI several times. All of these ventures she does completely free of charge.
Renee will be launching a new audio podcast in late 2023 called "Smells like girl". Renee is also the creator, producer, and host of The Night Shift Youtube Podcast alongside co-hosts ex-adult performer and TedX Speaker, Jenna Haze and author, journalist, screenwriter, and show creator, Bonnie Burton.
Renee is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives, workplaces and the wider community. Particularly in areas of mental health awareness and advocacy, mentoring, transformational leadership, gender inequality, diversity, equity and inclusion and fighting mental health stigma. Renee is a strong female empowerment champion, a certified Mental Health Ambassador, R U OK? Workplace Champion and a diversity, equity and inclusion committee member. Through sharing her lived experience as a chronic sufferer of Bipolar Disorder II, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder. She hopes she can inspire others to empower themselves, love themselves, and accept themselves as well as educate and raise awareness of the importance and serious lack of Mental Health services and facilities within the health systems and stop the cycle of stigma when it comes to mental illness.
